Why We Have a California Prop 65 Warning on our Herbal Teas & Tinctures

 

Most companies include a California Prop 65 warning on their herbal teas & tinctures even when levels of heavy metals or listed chemicals are below the legal thresholds.

Why This Happens

• California’s Prop 65 law requires this even if the product only contains trace, naturally occurring amounts of substances like lead or cadmium.

• The thresholds are extremely low — for example:

• Lead: 0.5 micrograms per daily serving

• Cadmium: 4.1 micrograms

• These are often exceeded by everyday foods like spinach, sweet potatoes, or turmeric grown in mineral-rich soil.

 

California Prop 65 Warning: Some of our products, including herbal teas & tinctures, may contain naturally occurring trace amounts of heavy metals (like lead or cadmium) found in soil. These elements are known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm.

This warning is provided in accordance with California’s Proposition 65 law, which has extremely strict standards—even for naturally occurring substances found in fruits, vegetables, and herbs.
