Who were The Jesus People?
 
The Jesus People - also known as The Jesus Hippies or The Jesus Freaks, were a radical group of Christ followers who started The Jesus Movement in the late 1960’s and 70’s.
 
The movement began in Costa Mesa, and ran up the West Coast, spreading across America. The Jesus people faithfully assembled in city parks, at beaches, and in homes. They preached repentance, kingdom purpose, and the love of Christ. This was a tall order during the height of the sexual revolution, recreational drug use, and anti-war demonstrations.
 
People from all walks of life were invited, and over 100,000 people were saved or took part in this beautiful, Holy Spirit led revival.
 
The Jesus People were the TRUE free love movement.
